Juicing vs Blending: What’s better?
It is a well known fact that fruits and veggies are an important part of a healthy diet. They are loaded with nutrients and fiber and are relatively low in calories. If you’re looking to shed a few pounds and/or improve your health, you definitely want to incorporate more of them in your daily diet.
Now I know many people who simply don’t like to eat veggies and fruit. Are you one of those? If so, I have a solution for you. Juicing or blending!
What’s the difference between juicing and blending? Glad you asked.
Juicing is a process where the liquid part of the fruit or vegetable is separated from the pulp, or fiber. The result is a concentrated juice packed with vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. You need a juicer to do these juices.
Blending is the process of utilizing the entire fruit or vegetable. You place them in a blender, Vitamix is my blender of choice, add Kangen water and blend away. This drink will be the consistency of a smoothie with the benefits of the fiber.
There are pros and cons to both juicing and blending. Juicing provides a very nutrient-dense beverage in a smaller amount of liquid but doesn’t have the fiber which is great for your colon health. It can also be higher in sugar content and become pricey as you will need to use more produce. With blending, you will use less produce, feel fuller and increase your fiber intake. You can also add seeds, protein and other healthy fats but the caloric intake also rises.
Here are some healthy tips on juicing and blending:
Limit the amount of fruit to 1-2 serving to avoid excess sugars
Use leafy green vegetables like kale, spinach, broccoli, parsley and cabbage they are loaded with nutrients
Use Kangen water to extract the nutrients more effective
Invest in a blender such as a Vitamix for a great smoothie or juicer like the Omega for maximum use of your produce
Drink wishing 15-30 minutes of blending or juicing to avoid oxidation
Ultimately, both blending and juicing have their benefits and certainly the pros outweigh the cons by a landslide. You can and should do both. I have some delicious recipes online and we also post on FB and Instagram.
